All the teaching staff are expected to obtain, at a minimum, CDAs by the end of their second year of LCC employment. Home visiting staff become Parents As Teachers certified by the end of their first year of LCC employment, and Infant Mental Health endorsed as soon as their experience allows. Program Directors are expected to hold or be working toward an MA in early childhood education, or a relevant field, as well as become Infant Mental Health endorsed.
Board members are nominated with the intention of building a diverse and representative Board – diverse in background, experience and expertise, as well as representative of the various communities LCC serves.
The Leelanau Children's Center Board of Directors provides oversight and fundraising support to LCC programs. The Board is comprised of fifteen or more devoted parents and community members who agree to serve 3-year terms. To reflect the communities LCC serves, the Board makes every effort to seat LCC parents from the Leland and Northport Centers, teachers from the Leland and Northport public schools, and community members from throughout the county.
Leelanau Children's Center Board members are expected to attend meetings, participate in committees spread the LCC word among their communities, friends and family. And finally, LCC Board members are expected to help LCC maintain our high quality programs by sharing their perspective on our work.
Our Board meets the fourth Monday of each month (except July and December)
